Most state Journeyman exams have 80–100 questions covering NEC code, wiring methods, branch circuits, motor controls, and load calculations.

Most states require a 70–75% passing score. This practice test uses the same 70% pass threshold so you know where you stand.

Questions are written to the 2023 NEC. Check your state licensing board to confirm which edition your state has adopted.

This test covers flexible conduit rules, motor theory, and mobile home wiring. FMC maximum trade size is 4 inches (NEC 348.20(B)). A motor conductor must be at least 125% of the motor FLC (NEC 430.22). For cord-and-plug 30A AC circuits, the air conditioner may not draw more than 50% of the circuit rating = 15A (NEC 440.52(C)). When voltage decreases in an induction motor, speed decreases and slip INCREASES. For 6 mobile homes on one feeder, NEC Table 550.31 gives a demand factor of 29%.
