Grounding Electrode System & GEC Sizing

4:26

Every usable grounding electrode on a property has to be bonded into one system — not just the easiest one to reach. Once that system is identified, the grounding electrode conductor has to be sized correctly off the code table.

In this lesson: what counts as an electrode (water pipe, concrete-encased/Ufer, ground ring, driven rod, structural steel), what never qualifies (gas piping, buried aluminum), the 25-ohm single-rod rule, Table 250.66 GEC sizing, the 6 AWG rod-only and 4 AWG concrete-encased size caps, copper vs aluminum sizing, GEC connection methods and splicing rules, tapping one GEC to multiple disconnects, and bonding a lightning protection system's ground.
