EPA 608 Practice Test (core exam)Note -1
1) Compressor Under Deep Vacuum
In refrigeration system the compressor should not be energized under deep vacuum or in case of service discharge or suction valves are closed. This may result in short circuit of motor winding at the Fusite terminals or any weak spot in the winding and damages the winding.
Refrigerant is a good insulator and prevents any short circuit in the compressor motor winding. Starting compressor under deep vacuum without any refrigerant will effects insulation between motor winding which may result in short circuit during operation.
